Our Big Preschooler

Well...it's official, our son has started preschool. What the what? When did he get this old?

He is having an absolute blast and looks forward to going every single day. His first day of school he learned all about germs. They sprinkled glitter all over their hands after reading a book all about the effects of germs and then washed it off, simulating the 'germs'. He's traced his name, told me it starts with 'H', painted, learned sizes (tiny, medium, large) and sang and dance to several songs. They've played outside in the sand box and the tire swing and he has even made a couple of new friends.

The transition was easy and I've been completely flabbergasted at how well he's done.

I can't believe how fast he's growing up, seriously... disbelief.

So I Wrote

I've been writing more than ever as of late. You'd never believe it with the absence of posts here, would you?

I've come to realize that there are points in which some things are better left unread by others, at least for a time being. A season where it's ideal to pull into yourself and focus on the inside rather than the out for awhile. I've been there for a good year now and while there's been terrible, not-so-good parts, there's been some really amazing parts too.

I'm pretty proud of myself, if I may say so.

I've stepped outside of my box, made new friends, and reached out to people that I normally would not in hopes of making even more. I've come to realize that life is too short to wait another day and the fact that we've been overwhelmed in grief lately seems to only attest to that fact.

So, I've wrote. I've wrote about life and love and my hopes and dreams...and stories. I'm writing and I feel free because of it. It's amazing what words can do for one's spirit, especially when the words tuck themselves so deep inside of your soul and you just need to let them out for a time.

Maybe one day these mess of words will be something I consider a masterpiece.

Henry's 4th Buggy Birthday

Henry is absolutely bug obsessed right now. Every single night we are out catching lightning bugs (fireflies, in case you're not from around these parts), chasing butterflies, or identifying every creepy crawler we see.

I let him choose what his party theme would be this year. I have a feeling the years of me having any say are gone... but that's okay, anything to make my boy happy!

I didn't take nearly as many photos this year, but that's okay, I was busy enjoying the moment. He had a great time, we had a great turn-out, and I don't think it could have turned out much better overall.

It's hard to believe that my Little Bit is four. FOUR. He's still my sunshine every single day, my big helper, and the most curious boy I think I've ever met.

Happy birthday sweet baby boy.

Henry's 4 Year Photos

I've just started going through these but I think these are for sure a few of my favorites. I can't believe how big my little man is - and how quickly they grow up!

We are having a bug themed party this year. Henry is OBSESSED (he caught a fly while we were taking these, do you know how hard it is for ME to catch a fly. The kid is a pro.) with everything creepy-crawly.

I wasn't sure how I was going to incorporate the bugs into his photos this year - but the net was perfect, and we're planning a second little shoot with lightning bugs one day this week. Keep an eye out for those!

Equality

Clearly I haven't posted in awhile...but I think I'll be back to updating at least a little more regularly soon. I hope. We shall see. Henry's birthday is in TWO weeks, I'll have to as least post about that, right?

Anyway, I couldn't pass up on stopping to share my own thoughts on this historic moment in our country.

I think I've made it clear in the past that I am a Christian and I believe, for myself, in the Biblical definition of marriage (one man + one woman).

But I also live in America, 'land of the FREE', and I think that we should all have equal rights, opportunities, and pursuits of happiness.

I know a lot of my Christian friends cried out in despair at the court ruling earlier this week. I however, cried tears of joy. If you want freedom to practice your own religion, freedom to live YOUR life the way you feel fit, you should reevaluate the idea of taking the right from someone else.

I found this little image and thought it was perfect.

God commands us to love one another. We can disagree and still agree on the simple fundamental fact that we all deserve equality.

Now if we could only tackle racism and sexism in the same way.
