100 Days

Did you guys know that we're 100 days into the year?

Crazy, right!

I can't believe that so much time has passed already although I am TOTALLY okay with the fact that winter has finally gone from our sleepy village in Ohio, I don't want the time to pass too quickly. We celebrated today by planting a few pansies, the one flower that will probably survive if we have a few cold days with frost.

We've stayed busy the last few weeks enjoying our warmer weather. This week it's going to be in the 70's most days and Henry and I plan on soaking up every last bit of warmth that we can find. I can't wait until mid-May when I can get up every morning, put on my pot of coffee, get dressed, and then wander out to my garden. My mornings were always so lovely last year when I spent an hour out weeding, pruning, and nourishing our veggies-to-be.

I always swore I had a black thumb but as I look around our house and see all the plants I've collected from the clearance rack at work, I can see that over the years the black has faded and the green has slowly taken over. I love gardening; there is such peacefulness about it and it's so rewarding to eat the things that you grow and know that you've become a little more self-reliant.

There has been a sense of uneasiness and unrest in our house as vacation creeps closer and the chill still hangs in the air although the temperature rises. We are ready for spring and summer and sunshine and warmth.

It's almost here and I can not wait.

Have a beautiful (and hopefully warm) Thursday.
